DAF is a water treatment process that removes suspended solids (biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5)), and oils and greases (O&G)) from water air. This is achieved by dissolving air into water under pressure then releasing the air at atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank the released air forms tiny bubbles which adhere to the suspended solids in the water causing the solids to float to the surface where they can now be removed by a skimming devices. These solids can be collected for reuse or biomass heating, Chemicals such as Flocculant or Coagulent to help improve the effectiveness of DAF.
DAF can be used with:
Clarification of municipal water and waste water
Paper making processes
Paper processing to collect pulp
Processed water
Benefits:
Can be used on a wide range of water types
Pre-treatment to reduce loading on downstream biological treatment systems
