The colorimeter measures the chlorine in the water by first reacting the sample with a reagent which makes the sample change color. The device then measures the intensity of the color that is proportional to the amount of chlorine contained in the sample. The instrument can measure free chlorine in 2 ranges. The low range (LR) is 0.02 – 2.00 mg/L free chlorine while the high range (HR) is 0.1 – 8.0 mg/L free chlorine.
